Questions people actually ask

How is this different from the big image-compressor sites?
Most of them upload your images to their servers for processing. Here the entire pipeline — decode, resize, re-encode — runs inside your browser using the same canvas machinery the browser itself draws with. Nothing is transmitted, so there is nothing to trust us about.
What does "EXIF stripped" mean?
Photos carry hidden metadata: where they were taken (GPS), when, and with what camera or phone. Re-encoding through a canvas carries pixels only, so every image you export here has that metadata removed automatically — good hygiene before posting anything publicly.
Which format should I pick?
WebP is usually smallest for photos and supports transparency; JPEG is the safe universal choice; PNG is lossless and right for screenshots, diagrams and anything with sharp text. If a site rejects WebP, switch to JPEG.
Why can’t it get my image under my target size?
Quality can only go so low before the encoder bottoms out. If the smallest encode still overshoots, the card tells you — combine the target with a resize (most upload limits are really dimension problems in disguise).
How do I compress a photo to 200 KB for a form or application?
Set the target-size mode to 200 KB and drop the photo in — the tool searches for the highest quality that fits under the cap. Portal upload limits (job applications, visa forms, exam registrations) are the most common reason people need an exact size, which is why the target is a number you type, not a slider you guess with.
Does compressing an image reduce its quality?
Lossy compression trades detail for size, but the trade is far better than people fear: photographs typically survive a 60–80% size cut with no visible difference at screen resolution, because encoders discard detail your eye ignores first. The live before/after preview exists so you judge with your eyes instead of trusting a percentage.
Is it safe to use an online tool for private photos?
The honest answer: only if the processing stays on your machine. Any site that uploads your image can retain it, and most compressor sites do upload.
